Did you miss this course when we ran it in October 2006? Then stop weeping - like the 24 SAMmers who came last time, you too can get in on the act.

And if you came last time then you'll know it's worth coming again to hone your slow riding skills even further.

Nigel Murray is hosting this fantastic course that will help you to improve your machine control, especially at slow speed. But you know that already and have signed up for the session, haven't you?

If not, then email Alastair asap to see if there is a space available.

Look, Lean, Roll - 13:00 Sunday 29 April 2007

Where and when is it?

It will be held in the British Energy overflow carpark, Barnett Way Gloucester. Once you find Barnett Way, pass the British Energy main entrance on your left, pass the entrance to the overflow carpark on your left, and enter by the overflow carpark's exit, on your left. It says "exit only"! It's set up this way for safety's sake, given the layout of the course in the carpark.

Click on the map below if you're a visual sort of person.

Get there by 13:00 on Sunday 29 April 2007. There is a briefing session at the outset, and if you miss that you'll have to wait for ages before Nigel can brief you on your lonesome. So get there on time! The session will finish at about 16:00.

What should I bring?

Yourself and your usual road-going bike, in decent nick and road legal of course! If you wear a hi-viz jacket, then you'll need to take it off once you arrive, because safety marshalls will be wearing these on the course and you wouldn't want to be confused with one of them, would you?

If the weather looks iffy, bring your wet weather gear. A little rain won't stop proceedings, although if it's absolutely blowing a gale then Nigel Murray may conceivably cancel the event for safety reasons. If you're the sort of person who doesn't like riding in rain, then steel yourself now so that if you wake up on Sunday morning to a bit of the wet stuff, you make sure you turn up. Training in the wet is a great skill and confidence booster.

How should I best prepare for the event?

Feng Shui helps. Also, Nigel will put together a page of notes, and if you are registered with Alastair for the course, you'll receive these by email beforehand.

What will happen on the day?

There will be a full safety briefing and kickoff for the day. Then riders will be split into groups. Whilst some are riding round the course, others (yes, including you!) will be acting as safety marshalls. The only qualifications you need to be a safety marshall are (a) the ability to wear a hi-viz vest (which will be supplied) and (b) the ability to follow simple instructions...

Then, magically, as the session proceeds you will see your machine handling skills improve immeasurably. You will feel good. You will enjoy riding more, every day. You will tell all your friends and they will be impressed with your new-found confidence and inner glow. Then they will join SAM to enjoy a future event.

What facilities are on site?

There will be a gazebo for shelter, and tea/coffee and nibbles will be laid on. Toilets are a 5ish minute walk to Sainsbury's.

This is too good to be true. What's the catch?

All things come at a price. Fortunately for you, it's only a fiver. But it's an important fiver, so bring it with you on the day and hand it over to Nigel.
